Scaled the warehouse for order growth
Task
The client needed to quickly increase the available storage volume and handle a growing number of orders. At the same time, the company did not want to invest in a new warehouse, search for premises on its own or build an additional operations team.
It was important to keep the usual level of control over the goods and to be able to expand warehouse capacity as the business continued to grow.
The initial problem
Initially the existing warehouse site coped with the company's volumes, but sales growth gradually increased the load on the infrastructure. Free space was shrinking, and peak periods put additional strain on the warehouse team and processes.
Expanding its own warehouse would have meant additional costs for premises, equipment and staff. Setting up a new site would also have taken time the business did not have for comfortable scaling.
The RFL solution
Warehouse processes handed over to a single operator
RFL provided the client with the necessary warehouse capacity and organised the handling of goods at its own site. Instead of managing individual warehouse processes on its own, the client got one operator responsible for the day-to-day running of the warehouse.
At the launch stage we analysed storage volumes, product characteristics, delivery frequency and handling requirements. Based on this data we shaped a suitable storage model and prepared the processes for the current load.
As part of the project, RFL took over:
- receiving of incoming goods;
- put-away of goods in the warehouse;
- contract storage;
- packing and preparation for shipment;
- labelling of goods;
